Wedding Invitations | Our Process
Consultation
All projects begin with a preliminary lead form to help us establish a starting point. Then we’ll meet for a 30-45 minute virtual consultation where we’ll chat about your wedding invitation ideas and our process. We will show you examples of how color, paper, and embellishments can be used to build your one-of-a-kind wedding stationery. Samples will be mailed to you so you can experience the color and textures for yourself.
Contracting
After the consultation, we will send you a proposal along with a contract, timeline, and invoice for a 50% retainer. Once the contract is signed and the deposit paid, you will have reserved your spot on our project calendar!
Design
You will be emailed information to upload inspiration and wording for your custom design project that we will use to create your first proof. All proofs will be sent to you digitally for review and revisions. The design process typically takes 3-4 weeks.
Production + Delivery
Your final payment and guest address list will be due at the time we go to print. At White Ink Calligraphy, we trust only the best printers who specialize in fine stationery to produce our products. We provide full assembly and mail out services. We also ship or you can pick up your order from our studio in East Nashville, Tennessee.

Also, respectfully, please don’t take post office advice from the DIY bride on tik tok. I saw an IG post the other day that said “why are stationers trying to be influencers?” And then it read, “because influencers are trying to be stationers.” 😂. It’s so true. Let me influence you to trust the people who do this for a living. We bank our income on our knowledge of the postal system, our years of experience, and our trusted relationship with the post office we mail from on a daily basis.

One of my favorite things about calligraphy? It’s nearly impossible to date.
If I showed you this invitation suite without context, would you know if it was designed five years ago or five months ago?
Probably not.
While invitation trends evolve, color palettes shift, die cuts come and go, and graphic styles have their moment, don’t even get me started on fonts, beautiful calligraphy has remained relevant for centuries. It feels just as at home on a classic wedding invitation today as it did generations ago.
That’s not to say we don’t love a trend. We absolutely do. Some of our favorite suites blend timeless calligraphy with modern colors, unexpected materials, and fresh design details. Some of our favorite suites have NO calligraphy at all!
But when the trends eventually change, the calligraphy still feels right at home.

The truth - I thought taking a “distance learning” course (before online courses were available) would be easy. Turn in homework once a week, midterm and a final on campus. Welp. I drove home every week, sat at my dad’s kitchen table, and cried while he tried to explain this foreign language to me ; and he just ended up doing the homework for me😂😂. I (we) got a 100 on every piece of homework. We failed the midterm and likely the final too. WE pulled a C in the class 😂

When @kaitlyn_boone reached out, we asked her to describe her wedding aesthetic. Her words - “Formal, coastal, vintage, magical, memorable.” And she said she wanted full spot calligraphy for her main invitation. My little heart was so excited.
The letterpress, giving a tactile impression on the cotton cardstock was a nod to their black tie affair; with a more formal style of calligraphy. We pulled in a seahorse wax seal and Florida vintage postage; a seashell die cut rehearsal dinner card; and a custom watercolor liner of the iconic fountains at their venue.
